Hello,
I am so excited right
now. If you are reading this book that I have been talking about my past two posts,
you might have passed that chapter, or you haven’t reached there as yet. Being adolescence
or a teenager, I am sure you would remember you wanted to become a professional
who earn millions and millions of dollars. Well, in the book “CHA-CHING” by
Andrew Grinbaum, he list a number of professions that intake millions of
dollars in one’s yearly earning. Do you remember the jobs we usually hear about
as kids, and you always wanted to be a Doctor, Accountant, Lawyer etc. Well,
Grinbaum shared his side of story how he heard about wealthy occupations. Also,
he shared how his surrounding was filled with wealthy professionals and I think
this is surrounding had a good effect on his life in becoming successful.
As I turned the pages
of this book, I came upon a list of career that earns up to 100k yearly I suppose.
As I looked through the list, I saw some occupations I used to talk about, but
I change it because of how young I was and understanding what they did was very
difficult. I told myself, let me go look if the career field that I am heading
towards now is in there, it was. I want to become a HR manager or a Hotel
manager. Some of the popular careers he listed were Accountant, Biochemical
engineer, Computer engineer, Dentist, Financial Analyst and the list goes on.
In the previous
chapter, I talked about how the book gave us an idea in researching on the
fantasy job that you would like to work in or a specific company you would like
to work for. There is a chapter in the book, where he gives a simple formula in
getting an interview. He start out by using a specific career, and you’re supposed
to carry out a research on that career and see who is hiring. I supposed you
already know what the expectations of the occupation you choose are. He suggested
that you should write down the names of the companies that you find that are
hiring, this include the address, telephone number everything that is important
to gain contact.
Even if these company
are not hiring, you need to take down there information. Because what Grinbaum
have to tell you can be worth it. For the companies that are looking, apply,
but for the ones that are not just keep the information because there is
something called “informational interview aka info view” where it is and interview set up by you to ask a representative
of the company questions about the company for you to learn more about the
company, and also for them to know about you and your interest.
Doing an info view will
bring attention to you if you are not lucky getting a job from the ones that
you apply for, and the company you did your info view with could be looking for
you to be their new employee. This is just like doing an internship were if you
mark your spot on that company, and you keep writing them, not by email
preferred, you are likely to have a spot save for you after graduating. Also, info view, and internship are
contributors to networking.
